RACHEL B. KARP (she/her)

I am a writer and producer working across theater, podcasts, film, TV, and digital media.

My nonfiction debut The Lesbian Bar Chronicles came out this year from Beacon Press. The book takes readers on a grassroots tour of the nation’s lesbian bars, illuminating their past, present, and hopeful future through the stories of the humans that run them and the humans that call them a home. It is based on the first two seasons of the award-winning queer history and culture podcast Cruising that I co-created.

My original hour-long drama pilot has been developed through Darcy Fowler’s workshops, with readings on Zoom and at Ensemble Studio Theatre. I am also developing additional scripted work centering queer voices, including another television pilot and an audio drama.

Other producing/associate producing credits include Hello Monday (a LinkedIn Editorial podcast), Sometimes When We Touch (a Paramount+ docu-series), Customer Wars (an A+E clip show), and various brand campaigns including Patron, Invisibobble, Riondo, and Apothic. Production Coordinator credits include New York Homicide (an Oxygen true crime series), Rifkin on Rifkin (an Oxygen documentary), and Eye Candy (a Roku Channel competition show).

I have a B.S. in Theater (directing/playwriting track) and English from Skidmore College, and have trained at the Moscow Art Theater School.
